DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Checks anesthesia machine very morning prior to surgery to ensure that the gas scavenging system is attached and the suction apparatus is attached and functioning.
To assist during induction of maintenance of and recovery from anesthesia.
To provide assistance to anesthesia personnel in assembling equipment and supplies for the administration of anesthesia.
To perform cleaning of equipment and storing of supplies and to clean anesthesia work spaces and storage areas.
Incumbent works with a wide variety of equipment peculiar to administration of anesthesia, patient monitoring and related life support systems and must be familiar with intravenous fluids plus and blood administration system.
Understands sequence of procedures required for rapid induction and intubation used in emergency cases to prevent vomiting and aspiration. Performs Sellick’s Maneuver (Cricoid pressure) as required.
Positions patients for surgery and those requiring spinal or epidural anesthesia with awareness of requirement of a sterile and sterile technique for the procedure.
Learn and keep current with the name of equipment, supplies and pharmacological agents and is familiar with locations of same.
Assists anesthetists with starting I.V. infusion.
Share “on call” rotation to provide assistance for emergency surgeries during other than normal hours, i.e. nights, weekends and holidays.
Maintains awareness of safety hazards and takes necessary action to prevent accidents.
Attends staff meeting as and when required on a regular basis.
Maintains confidentiality of patient records and activities in the O R.
Performs miscellaneous duties as assigned by Unit Supervisor/Charge Nurse/or other Anesthetist.
Participate in any PI activities and scheduled continuing nursing education and updating.
Participate in conferences or training to update or share knowledge of new techniques in Anaesthesia.
Maintains current knowledge of operation procedures and maintenance of new equipment.
OSH ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

General:

Responsible to be familiarize, comply and implement the OSHAD-SF& NMCSH Al Ain Internal OSHMS policies and procedures/SOP’s relevant to their department.
Staff should notify/report all OSHMS hazards, incidents, accidents and near misses within the premises of NMCSH Al Ain to their supervisor or department OSH Facilitator as per the incident reporting protocol of NMCSH Al Ain.
Staff are responsible to assist with the preparation of departmental risk assessment activities and implement the control measure within the timeframe.
Staff are responsible to attend applicable department OSHMS training.
Staff are not allowed to tamper or misuse any NMCSH Al Ain equipment’s and its property.
Comply with all OSH instructions, safe working procedures and signages within the premises of NMCSH-Al Ain.
Be familiar with emergency and evacuation procedure.
Not willfully or recklessly endanger anyone’s health and safety;
Make proper use of all machinery, tools, substances, etc., safety systems and of all Personal Protective Equipment provided for use at work.
Participate in required OSH inspection, audit and OSH monitoring programs.
Specific:

Comply with OSHAD, DOH, FNAR and NMCSH policy/procedures related to Radiation/Laser Safety.
Display commitment for limiting the radiation exposure by wearing appropriate PPE (E.g. Lead Apron) during radiation/laser procedures.
Ensure in wearing and maintaining dosimeters during all radiation procedures
Assist doctors in the operation laser/ radiation systems during procedures.
Maintains a safe orderly treatment room.
BCP ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsibilities of staff (including all contractors) are:
Participating actively in the business continuity programme when required
Achieving an adequate level of general awareness regarding business continuity Being aware of the contents of their service areas disaster recovery plan and any specific role or responsibilities allocated.
Ensuring information governance standards continue to be applied to data and information during an incident
Additional duties/responsibilities (related to ADHICS) assigned to this position in clear, concise language:

Health Information Literacy and Skills:

Adhere to information systems policies and procedures as required by Health Care Organization.
Ensure that documentation in the health record reflects accuracy, integrity and authenticity
Privacy, Confidentiality of Health Information:

Follow security and privacy policies and procedures to the use of networks, including intranet and Internet.
Follow confidentiality and security measures to protect electronic health information.
Maintain data integrity and validity within an information system.
Report any possible breaches of confidentiality in accordance with organizational policies.

Apply departmental and organizational data and information system security policies
Basic Computer Literacy Skills:

Use basic word processing, spreadsheet and desktop presentation applications as applicable to your work.
Demonstrate proficiency in Windows operating environment.

Qualifications
QUALIFICATION, LICENSURE, EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SPECIAL SKILLS

Diploma / College Degree in Anesthetic Techniques.
Minimum 2 years experience after qualification and registration/license to practice.
Currently licensed in country of origin and with DOH license to practice in Al Ain, UAE.
Fluent in spoken & written English, Arabic language is desirable, but not essential
