Job Description
- Be responsible for providing and coordinating patient care, educating patients and the public about various health conditions, and providing advice and emotional support to patients and their family members.
- Assess and identify patients’ needs and implement and monitor the patient’s medical plan and treatment. They will work with a team of physicians and other health care specialists or allied health in various settings
- Perform systematic patient assessment and collect pertinent data about the patient’s health or situation.
- Understand and analyze the assessment information and data
- Determine actual and potential nursing diagnoses, problems, and issues
- Define the predicted and expected outcomes of the patient’s planned care
- Create and evaluate patient care plans with the medical team
- Record vital signs, recognize and address abnormalities
- Define the care plan in collaboration with the healthcare team, patients, and families.
- Maintain and update the technical and clinical skills related to nursing practice
- Employ strategies to promote patients’ health and a safe environment.
- Understand different diagnostic tests and laboratory exams
- Perform essential life support (BLS
- Prepare patients for medical examination and treatment
- Administer medications and monitor patients for any side effects and reactions
- Administer treatments such as IV fluids or blood products and monitor patients for any reactions
- Provide wound care management
- Assist in medical procedures invasive or non-invasive as needed
- Facilitate the process of safe patient`s admission and discharge
Responsibilities specific to OPD:
- Completes the daily assignment checks and keep the unit ready for the shift.
- Assists doctors during specific procedures performed in the outpatient department.
- Responsible for assessment and reassessment of patients.
- Performs initial assessment of patients, includes baseline observations and CTG if required.
- Ability to identify and promptly report obstetric emergencies to the doctor.
- Performs nursing procedures with attention to accuracy in patient safety and comfort.
- Ensures strict aseptic techniques are followed while performing various gynecological and obstetrical procedures.
- Responsible for maintaining clean unit as per infection control and waste management policy of the hospital.
- Demonstrates in-depth knowledge in the nursing care of patients undergoing gynecological and obstetrical procedures.
- Provides appropriate health teaching to patient and family about further management and care.
- Prepares, administers and documents medication as per hospital policy, if given to the patient.
- Perform the Appropriateness review of medications before preparing and administering medications as required.
- Appropriate and complete documentation of the patient assessment and care provided.
Responsibilities
- Comply with reasonable OSH instructions, policies and safe working procedures
- Use of appropriate personal protective equipment and safety systems.
- Be familiar with emergency and evacuation procedures
- Not willfully or recklessly endanger anyone’s health and safety
- Assist with the preparation of risk assessments
- Report OSH Hazards, incidents, Near misses and issues
- Reduce, Reuse, Recycling of waste as much as possible
- Attend all OSH Trainings, awareness programs and mock drills.
- Participates in the OSHMS audits, inspections, ensuring standards are maintained.
Qualifications
- Have an appropriate license to work as a nurse in the relevant regulatory health authority (DoH, DHA) with all the qualification and experience this mandates.
- Manage their own professional revalidation
- Have basic life support qualification (within past 24 months)
- Have an active interest in the clinical field in which they are employed
- Be willing to work across departments when necessary
- Be able to communicate clearly and effectively in English (spoken and written)
DESIRABLE: The post holder should have:
- Evidenced experience/expertise in the clinical field in which they are employed
- Evidenced ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team
- Organizational and administrative skills with which to use the HIS platform for clinical documentation
