Job Description:

Specialists are required to put criticism in writing and discuss serious or repeated minor failures to perform by other medical staff with their Line Manager to ensure early intervention. They must ensure that all medical records of their patients are completed accurately, legibly, and timely according to the policy. Additionally, they will participate in mortality and morbidity meetings in an open and collegiate manner to ensure fairness and truth in discussions.

Confidentiality must be maintained in all matters according to the DOH policy. Specialists will take a leading role in teaching junior medical staff and contribute to the education of nurses, other personnel, patients, and the public as needed. They will strive to improve their service to patients through audit, research, attendance at educational events, and the use of library and other educational facilities. They also have sole responsibility for issuing DOH Sick Leave from the DOH website.

Decision-Making Authority:

Work is carried out within general policies, principles, and goals, and is subject to direction only for guidance on policy issues.

Occupational Safety and Health Management:

  • Attend Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) programs as a mandatory requirement.
  • Comply with all OSH policies, procedures, and legal requirements regarding the Occupational Safety and Health Management System.
  • Conduct tasks in a healthy and safe manner at all times.
  • Report any untoward events that impact the occupational, safety, and health of patients, staff, contractors, facilities, operations, etc.
  • Comply with established NMCRMC OHSMS procedures of which they have been informed, instructed, and trained.
  • Actively participate with line management in the implementation of OHSMS requirements.
  • Report to the respective manager any potential hazards, unsafe acts, or conditions that may cause EHS impacts.
  • Report all EHS hazards, near misses, and incidents to the respective line manager.

Infection Control:

All employees are personally accountable for their actions and are responsible for ensuring compliance with infection prevention and control policies. Healthcare workers must identify infectious conditions that require specific controls to protect themselves and their patients and notify the infection prevention team.

Qualifications:

  • MBBS or MBChB or equivalent qualification from an accredited institution.
  • Completion of specialty qualification as per the Recognized Specialty Certificate table.
