Diversity: We are an inclusive employer and value a diverse workforce

Job Duties:

Family is at the heart of our work in Hertfordshire and that includes supporting our children and young people in our care to reunite with their families, where this would be safe, secure and in their best interests.

We are recruiting to a new Life Coach role to be part of a brand-new team which is being created to extend our successful Family Safeguarding model into our Children Looked After Service. This model is a framework which has been highlighted as a beacon of best practice in the Government’s recent National Review into the tragic murders of Arthur Labinjo-Hughes and Star Hobson.

The review concluded that: “Practice frameworks such as Family Safeguarding Hertfordshire have shown us the great value of bringing highly skilled, multi-agency professionals together into a single team with a shared vision and purpose.”

The Family Safeguarding model centres around a multi-disciplinary team who are highly trained in Motivational Interviewing, a counselling approach that creates confidence in parents to change their behaviours that cause harm to their children.

This extension of the Family Safeguarding model to children in care sets out to empower families, and their extended networks to help children achieve the best outcomes by having parental mental health, substance misuse and domestic abuse specialists all working in one team, alongside children’s social workers and life coaches.

The role is to undertake direct work with families whose children are currently looked after, support the Team with the Family Safeguarding modules, undertake home visits and attend all meeting relevant to the family.

We welcome applications from those with relevant professional and personal experience, including those who have lived experience of care
