2. JOB SUMMARY:
Directs supervises and coordinates the activities in the designated area and ensures good standard of care is provided.
3. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
3.1 Directs and supervises all administrative and clinical activities of his/her designated area.
3.2 Ensures the implementation and evaluation of standards of patient care
3.3 Performs the initial assessment of the patient including history of allergies
3.4 Responsible for coordinating and supervising the triaging of the walk-in patients.
3.5 Responsible for coordinating and documenting ambulance activities as per hospital policy when necessary.
3.6 Ensures availability of informed consent is present for invasive procedures
3.7 Strictly adheres to performing ‘TIME Out’ before invasive procedure
3.8 Responsible for maintaining cleanliness of the department as per infection control and waste management policy of the hospital
3.9 Demonstrates vigilance in identifying patients with communicable diseases and following the appropriate isolation technique and protocol for such patients
3.10 Provides orientation to the newly joined staff nurses and conducts assessment at the completion of 15 days, 6 months and 1 year.
3.11 Coordinates with the Nursing Administrator in conducting annual competency and skill based competency checks for all the staff nurses
3.12 Prepares daily / monthly staff allocation of his/her designated area and ensures competency based nurse/patient allocation is followed at all times
3.13 Coordinates with the front office desk of her/his designated area for smooth functioning and optimum patient care
3.14 Ensures that all relevant paperwork and supporting documentation are completed to the highest standards
3.15 Coordinates with the Nursing Administrator to develop appropriate inventory systems, which are ongoing, preventing shortages or overstocking within the unit
3.16 Coordinates with Nursing Administrator to obtain emergency medications, equipment and supplies, ensuring records are up to date and inventories protected.
3.17 Ensures preventative and ongoing maintenance of equipment is carried out, reporting all failures or deficiencies through appropriate department head.
3.18 In Coordination with the Nursing Department develops coordinates and directs orientation/ training programs which are competency based, documented and evaluated.
3.19 Responsible for daily checking of crash carts and emergency equipment’s’ as per hospital policy
3.20 Responsible for appropriate storage and maintaining inventory of medications including high alert medications and narcotics as per hospital policy
3.21 Responsible for appropriate storage and maintaining inventory of Hazmat items including the MSDS as per hospital policy
3.22 Participates as a member of Code Blue and Code Black Team hospital wide
3.23 Demonstrates deep knowledge and participates in fire safety, patient safety, infection control and the other necessary precautions as per hospital policy
3.24 Assists in the development of unit Policies and Procedures, which involve patient care issues
3.25 Demonstrates strict adherence to all hospital policies and procedures
3.26 Carries out other duties as instructed by the Nursing Shift Supervisor / Nursing Administrator
3.27 She should be responsible to replace any OPD Nurse in her unit at any given time that the assigned nurse is not operationally available.
3.28 Any added responsibilities can be added by the nursing administration.
3.29 Comply with all OSH and infection control policies, standards and procedures and cooperate with hospital management to comply those requirements
3.30 Work accordance with the documented OSH procedures and instructions, specific responsibilities
3.31 Be familiar with emergency and evacuation procedures
3.32 Notifying OSH Hazards, incidents, Near misses and issues and assistance with the preparation of risk assessments, incident reports
3.33 Comply with Waste management procedures and policies
3.34 Attend applicable OSH/Infection control training programs, mock drills and awareness programs
3.35 Use of appropriate personal protective equipment and safety systems
4. SPECIALIZED OPD AREAS DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
4.1. PSYCHOLOGY OPD
4.1.1. Demonstrates deep knowledge in the nursing care of patients in the department.
5. QUALIFICATION, LICENSURE, EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SPECIAL SKILLS:
5.1 Bachelor of Science in Nursing / Diploma in Nursing.
5.2 Current license in country of origin and with HAAD (Health Authority Abu Dhabi) license to practice in Abu Dhabi, UAE.
5.3 Minimum of 5 years’ experience in outpatient department with at least 2 years’ experience as Charge Nurse or equivalent grade in relevant clinical area
5.4 BLS provider
5.5 Demonstrates sound decision-making and leadership skills
5.6 Must be fluent in spoken and written English.
5.7 Arabic speaking is desirable but not essential
