JOB SUMMARY:

A Critica care Staff Nurse is a nurse specializing in intensive care, working in Critical Care Department and is part of the medical team who attend to patients with critical conditions. CCD staff nurses attend to critical patients, assist physicians, and provide support to the patient’s family. They also monitor and operate life- supporting devices, administer life-saving medications, and closely monitor the patient’s vital signs, assesses for signs of deterioration or improvements, and reactions to medical procedures. Their duties also include constant support during patient recovery.

Job Responsibilities :

1. Performs variety of supportive and technical nursing skills and utilizes a range of equipment when carrying out a specific medical and nursing performance of specific treatments, monitoring techniques, and other diagnostic, therapeutic, and supportive measures.
2. Initiates and performs a range of nursing measures based on patient needs related to respiratory and hemodynamic support, other physical and mental comforts, positioning and mobilization, nutrition and hydration, bowel and bladder elimination, care of the skin and wounds and support of respiration, hygiene, communication, any other physical and mental bodily function.
3. Provides direct observation and care to all ICU patients
4. Assess and reassess patient’s level of pain, agitation and sedation level as required.
5. Prioritize nursing care for critically ill patients based on assessment and identification of problems.
6. Develops a care plan based on the patient’s current problem and revise for any changes in the patient’s status or condition.
7. Collaborates with the members of the multidisciplinary team to develop and revise treatment plans based on the identified patient problems
8. Works collaboratively with ICU Charge nurses/Head Nurses and follow their appropriate directions, assignments and guidance for procedures and routines.
9. Observes proper patient handover (shift to shift, transfer-in and transfer out
10. Ensures the laboratory samples are collected in proper and timely manner
11. Follow up results and notification to ICU physician should be done for any deranged results for immediate intervention. 
12. Receives and documents critical/panic laboratory/diagnostic results
13. Ensures that all medications are available and necessary precautions are taken for any medication given to the patient by following the ten (10) Rights of Medication administration. Reports any medication errors and adverse drug reaction to the assigned physician and fills out the Medication Error Reporting/Adverse Drug Reaction form
14. Assist physicians with procedure whenever required
15. Documents patient’s medical history, assessment findings, treatment plans, interventions, outcomes and revision of plans as per policy
16. Ensures proper handling and usage of equipment (Cleaning, Disinfection, Maintenance and Storage) based on Infection Control Policies
17. Adheres to the Infection Control Policies and procedures
18. Ensures the cleanliness of patient’s surroundings/environment are maintained by the assigned cleaner. 
19. Maintains confidentiality of all patient/staff communications.
20. Follows nursing dress code and professional etiquettes.
21. Participates in the continuous education and quality improvement activities to enhance practice, knowledge and skillsAssesses patient’s relatives on their adaptation level and coping mechanism in order to determine the priority of health teaching. 
22. Maintains cooperative and harmonious relationship with colleagues
23. Actively participates in the team problem solving method.
24. Performs other applicable tasks and duties assigned within the realm of his/her knowledge, skills and abilities.
25. Reports to duty in case of internal and external disaster as instructed by Head Nurse/Nurse Manager. 
26. Rotates on all duty shifts as instructed by Head Nurse/Nurse Manager.
     

Job Requirements

Qualification And Experience

Required Qualification : Bachelor science in Nursing

Required License / Certificates: Registered with Saudi commission for health specialties \ Certified BLS Provider, ACLS.
